Science and technology are not the same. Science is the discipline of studying how things work, while technology is the process of extracting that knowledge to enhance human life. IonRay Inc is a technology company. We take a cross-disciplinary approach to mine the cutting-edge discoveries in science and convert them into products that make life better.
Contrary to popular belief, the array of what is unknown still vastly eclipses the field of what is known. At IonRay, we start with this precept and work backwards - leaving no stone unturned and clinging to no hardened assumptions on our mission to develop the most novel, unique, and exciting products. We approach our mission foremost with humility and wonder toward the awesome complexity of nature - recognizing arrogance and self-certainty as the principle roadblocks in bettering our society. Nature is our inspiration, science our tool, and our wish to see a healthier world our driving force.
Just within the last twenty years, new revelations in biology, physics, material science have fundamentally reshaped our vision of the world and provided new insight in our quest to improve the human condition. Unfortunately, this acceleration in knowledge has not been equally matched by our technical prowess. Yes, innovation has happened. But in comparison to the incredible range of what has been learned, we see the development of new technology as lagging by comparison.
The reason is that innovation is expensive. And at the same time companies want to develop that blockbuster new product based on the most cutting-edge science, they also realize that mistakes are expensive and "cutting-edge" can quickly become "bleeding-edge." Most new things simply don't work. Furthermore, given the pressure faced by publicly traded companies from their stockholders and fearing the regulatory labyrinth imposed by a government from which they derive much of their research money, most companies necessarily operate within narrowly defined limits and prefer to stay inside established paradigms. Safe? Yes. Innovative? No.
Things are different at IonRay. We are privately owned and face no pressure from stockholders. Additionally, we take no research money from the federal government and make no claims that our product prevents or treats any disease. We are free to follow any paradigm, to use all of our resources and ingenuity, to follow even unlikely paths in our quest to make life better for everyone.
